Thirty years ago, George Michael Calger was put in a theater asylum at Oberlin College, while studying music history. Marking his debut at Chameleon with Theatre Uncorked, he has recently been seen as <\/span>Col. Brandon in “Sense and Sensibility”<\/em> at Theatre in the Round<\/strong>; <\/span>Richard Hannay in “The 39 Steps<\/em>” and Lloyd Dallas in “Noises Off<\/em>” at Lakeshore Players<\/strong>; <\/span>mobster Erwin Getz in “Philly<\/em>” with Philly Productions<\/strong>; <\/span>Mike Dillon in “Good People<\/em>” at Lyric Arts<\/strong>; <\/span>Prof. Harold Hill in “The Music Man<\/em>” at Ashland Productions<\/strong>; Cardinal Wolsey and Henry VIII in “A Man for All Seasons<\/em>” at Open Window Theatre<\/strong>. He also shaved his head into male-pattern baldness to play Patrick Stewart in “Stuck in an Elevator with Patrick Stewart<\/em>” (2013 Minnesota Fringe Festival<\/strong>).

Other favorite roles include E.K. Hornbeck in “Inherit the Wind<\/em>“; Mayor Stockmann in “An Enemy of the People<\/em>“; Eddie Kurnitz in “Lost in Yonkers<\/em>“; Det. McPherson in “Laura<\/em>“; Max in “The Sound of Music<\/em>“; Philip in “The Lion in Winter<\/em>“; Grandpa Joe in “Roald Dahl’s Willy Wonka<\/em>“; Sky Masterson in “Guys and Dolls<\/em>“; Cogsworth in “Beauty and the Beast<\/em>“; Scarecrow in “The Wizard of Oz<\/em>“; Oberon in “A Midsummer Night’s Dream<\/em>“; and both Mortimer and Bellomy in “The Fantasticks<\/em>” (20 years apart).
